Katie Whittle comes from a background in Philosophy and Art. Her work explores themes around death and nature and is hugely influenced by her interests in biology and the occult. The artist seeks to portray ordinary subjects in a way that surprises the audience or forces them to view it in a new light, using unusual compositions and colour palettes as bright as her hair. In earlier years, her prints have been predominantly high-quality digital works, however, over the past twelve months she has enjoyed experimenting with Risograph printing, which she feels is better suited to her personal style. Stationary, enamel and wooden pins are also available. As well as her lone business ventures, Katie co-founded Frisson Comics – a horror comics label – in 2016, and so far has produced 4 books plus several quarterly horror zines.
