Jamie Barnes – Printmaker

Jamie Barnes makes hand-made aquatint etching prints, depicting buildings and man-made structures in the landscape and on the coast, taking inspiration from the Fellside area of Kendal, his hometown. His work combines line with texture and has a unique limited palette of blues and greys due to his colourblindness. Jamie began to develop his style during a tour of Italy in 2007, as he began keeping a sketchbook of the sights, and has since branched out into printmaking techniques such as drypoint engraving and trace monoprinting. He uses similar etching techniques to make unique etched jewellery, as well as offering ‘House Portraits’ on commission.
