My Moroccan Folly

Mohammed Aarab is an accredited woodcraft artisan who creates high quality, affordable objects for gifts or personal use, including office stationary for the home or workplace, games, jewellery boxes and more. Aarab uses the trunk and roots of the thuya tree for his craft, which is unique to the region of Essaouira, Morocco where he grew up. This tree is protected and only accredited artisans such as himself are granted access to the offcuts from felling programmes.

Having worked as a thuya artisan for over two decades, his work is known for the high calibre of finishing and the sheen from its French polish. Prices range from £4 – £200, with the majority of pieces priced between £10 – £40.
